2013 America’s Cup race in San Francisco Gets Final Approval

It’s full speed ahead for the 2013 America’s Cup race in San Francisco, and Regatta Gear will be ready with sailing gear for the crews.

On Tuesday, March 27, 2012, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved the agreement to host the America’s Cup in San Francisco September 7-22, 2013.

The 2013 race will be the first time the competition for the “Auld Mug” will be held in San Francisco, a perfect natural sailing arena where more than one million spectators will see the 34th edition of the America’s Cup.

Regatta Gear Official Supplier for Balboa Yacht Club’s CDM to CABO 2012 Yacht Race Set for March 30 – April 5, 2012

Regatta Gear is outfitting sailors in racing apparel for the Balboa Yacht Club’s 2012 Corona del Mar to Cabo San Lucas (CDM to CABO) International Yacht Race, set to run March 30 – April 5, 2012.

Regatta Gear is the Official Supplier of crew gear for this race.   Regatta made all the official CDM to CABO Race 2012 clothing now being sold at the Balboa Yacht Club.

The 2012 CDM to CABO Race is an invitational race with abundant pre- and post-race activities. The race will get underway off Newport Beach, Calif. and the course will run approximately 800 nautical miles (nm) to finish inCabo San Lucas,Mexico.

Approximately 20 yachts are entered in this year’s race.  Balboa Yacht Club hosts the race on even years. The winner of the 2010 race was Katana, owned by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. The 2008 overall winner Sabrina, owned by Chris Calkins, will be competing again in the 2012 race. Several world class yachts are entered in a quest to be the 2012 winner.

The term luxury yacht refers to very expensive, privately owned yachts which are professionally crewed. Also known as a Super Yacht, a luxury yacht may be either a sailing or motor yacht.  Giga yachts or Mega yachts are vessels over 100 meters in length.  The world’s largest yacht is the 170-meter mega-cruiser Eclipse.
